Murphy leaving Leinster for another Irish province

The Irish Times are reporting this morning that Leinster and Ireland flanker Jordi Murphy will be playing for Ulster next season.

The 26-year-old is believed to be on the verge of signing a new two-year deal with the province. One of his main aims is believed to be seeking more game time with the northern province, after seeing his place in the pecking order fall at Leinster following a knee injury suffered in November 2016, during the historic victory over the All Blacks.

Since returning from that injury, Murphy has seen the likes of Sean O'Brien, Rhys Ruddock, Dan Leavy, Josh van der Flier and Jack Conan all rise to starting berths.

Murphy has made 95 appearances for Leinster since he debut in 2011 and will be joining former teammate Marty Moore in the north after it was confirmed the prop would be making the move from Aviva Premiership side Wasps.

Moore, who has 10 Ireland caps, left his native Leinster at the end of the 2015/16 season and has made 34 appearances in the Wasps front row, but has been hampered by a number of injuries including to his neck.

Moore has previously worked with Ulster Director of Rugby Les Kiss in the Ireland setup and also with head coach Jono Gibbes during their time together at Leinster.

Both men will be looking to reignite their international careers.
