Nakarawa ready to end three-year Glasgow absence at Sale
Leone Nakarawa will be back in a Glasgow jersey for the first time since 2016 as Warriors bid to beat the odds and reach the Heineken Champions Cup quarter-finals.
The Fiji lock will face Sale in the final pool match on Saturday as Dave Rennie makes five changes following their 31-31 draw with group winners Exeter.
Nakarawa held signing talks with Sale after being sacked by Racing 92 for returning late from the World Cup but he opted to return to Scotland.
Glasgow are in need of a win against already-eliminated Sharks, and also favours from other clubs as they are outside the three best-performing second-placed teams in the five groups.
Tom Gordon celebrates his first Scotland call-up by being recalled to the back row while Aki Seiuli, scrum-half Ali Price and winger DT Van der Merwe also come back.

Rennie said: “Leone gives us a great ball-carrying option in the back-row. He’ll commit a lot of defenders and can create space for others, and we’re excited to give him a crack on the side of the scrum.
“Tom is a great athlete, who offers us a genuine ball-carrying option. He’s made good shifts around his physicality, his work post-tackle, and he’s gone really well for us over the last couple of months.
“Sale are very direct, but they’re also very innovative. They’re a lot tougher to face down there. We’re expecting them to go full tilt.”

Hard to disagree with the 5 points - with the exception that Wilson should be a squad member but, depending on the other loose forward selections, is not yet a shoo-in. McReight is. Aussie is looking a lot better this year and JS has some selection options. Also, Havili’s tendency to get caught, charged down is also a liability at times but he seemed focused (mostly) and is definitely a consideration for utility back-up. Still feel Reihana is a better prospect at 1st five for Saders.
Go to commentsThink it was a great defensive performance by Northampton. They didn't have stage fright in the first half, the Nienaber defense smothered them. They limited Leinster to 15-3 in the first half. It could have been over by then. A great try from Leinster in the start of the second half looked to have sealed it. But Byrne missed another conversion. Northampton started trying little kicks behind the Leinster wingers. Leinster messed one and Smith brilliantly made the conversion. Leinster decided to tighten the game after Byrne missed a straight forward penalty. A few errors got NH into the 22 and they scored and converted with a few minutes left. Another brilliant steal from Lawes saw NH have a final attack which was turned over by Conan. A classic semi final. World record attendance of 82,300. Leinsters 3 week preparation warranted for this one.
