Nations Cup thrown into chaos as 29 positive Fiji tests for Covid confirmed, game with Italy cancelled

Group B in the Autumn Nations Cup has been plunged into chaos following the cancellation of a second match involving Fiji, this time next Saturday’s fixture against Italy. France were awarded a 28-0, four-try bonus point win over the Fijians on Tuesday morning after tournament organisers came to a decision on what to do following the cancellation of last Sunday’s match that was due to be staged at Vannes.

The Fijians, who had their pre-tournament warm-up match at Portugal cancelled due to Covid, had their game against France called off last Friday following the confirmation of four positives tests in their camp.

However, despite players and management isolating since then, the results of a further round of testing on Monday were announced on Tuesday evening and they confirmed a way more severe level of outbreak, forcing the cancellation of their round two match with Italy.

A toast to Argentina after their win over the All Blacks

“The organiser of the Autumn Nations Cup today announced the cancellation of the Italy vs Fiji match due to take place on Saturday, November 21, in Ancona. The decision was taken after the latest round of Covid-19 tests undertaken yesterday (Monday) by the Fijian team returned 29 positive cases this morning.

“The tournament organiser remains in constant contact with the Fijian squad to address the situation. The main priority at present is the welfare of all players and management. The potential impact on Fiji’s remaining matches is currently under review.”

Another 28-0 defeat is now set to be the outcome for Fiji following their Italy cancellation and it remains to be seen if they can fulfil their round three fixture against Scotland on November 28 at Murrayfield. A statement earlier on Tuesday confirming the 28-0 win for France read: “While no fault has been apportioned to Fiji Rugby, the competition rules provide that if a team is primarily responsible for a match not taking place, a 28-0 victory will be awarded to the opposition that could have played the match.

“We wish the affected Fiji players well as they continue their recovery and are working closely with the Fiji team to ensure that they are able to field a competitive team against Italy. Further updates will follow once additional rounds of testing have been completed.”

Geoff Parling: An Englishman roasting the Lions?

For the past three years, I've been involved in Forex trading, constantly learning new strategies and honing my skills. Along the way, I’ve come across many opportunities, but one particular online trading contest left me shaken and wiser. What appeared to be a legitimate contest with a grand prize turned out to be an elaborate scam. I’d like to share my experience to help others avoid a similar trap. It started with an online ad promoting a Forex contest. The hosting company seemed reputable, the prize was attractive, and the website looked professional. Eager to join, I paid a $1,000 registration fee. Soon after, I got an email saying I’d qualified for the next round but to proceed, I needed to cover $2,000 in shipping costs for the prize. Believing it was worth it, I paid. But after that, communication stopped. No prize. No response. Suspicious, I started researching and found out that many others had been caught in the same scheme. I had fallen victim to a professional scam and lost a total of $10,000. Feeling overwhelmed, I began looking for help. That’s when I found a digital recovery service specializing in online scams. I provided all my evidence, and they began working on my case. Thanks to their expertise, they were able to trace the transaction and recover my funds. This experience taught me the importance of verifying everything before making financial commitments online. I hope my story raises awareness about online trading scams and helps others avoid them. Be cautious if it seems too good to be true, it probably is.
