New kick-off time for Hurricanes’ top-of-the-table clash with Chiefs
The Hurricanes have made a major announcement ahead of “the most important match of the season so far” on Saturday.
After beating the Highlanders 29-14 in Dunedin last weekend, the Hurricanes rose to first place on the Super Rugby Pacific ladder.
But they’re equal on competition points with the in-form Chiefs, who they’re set to face at Sky Stadium on Saturday.
The Hurricanes have announced that the top-of-the-table clash will now be played on Saturday afternoon, as opposed to the original time of 7.05pm NZST.
Sky Stadium hoped to have floodlight upgrades competed last week, but there were delays caused by high winds.
To ensure everybody’s safety, the Hurricanes have brought the game forward to a more family friendly time.
“Although the time change would be inconvenient for some people, the safety of the stadium’s contractors needed to be the priority,” Hurricanes CEO Avan Lee said in a statement.
“The silver lining is that this will now be a fantastic chance for our young fans and their families to get out and connect as a community and watch a top-of-the-table match.
“We hope that the fans get behind our Hurricanes this Saturday for what is arguably the most important match of the season so far.”
The Hurricanes highly anticipated clash with the Chiefs is set to kick-off at 2.35pm in Wellington.

Give the conspiracy theorists a win.
England played well enough to win but couldnt score when they needed to and couldnt defend a couple of X-Factor moments from Telea which was ultimately the difference. They needed to hold the ball more and make the AB's make more tackles. Territorially they were good for the first 60. Defending their lead and playing pragmatic rugby in the last 20 was silly. The AB's always had the potential to come back. England still have a long way to go, definite progress would have been shown had they won but it seems they are still stuck where they were shortly after the six nations and their tour to NZ
