Newcastle Falcons score late on to see off struggling Zebre
Newcastle Falcons narrowly avoided embarrassment as they hit back to beat rock-bottom Zebre and advance to the last 16 of the European Challenge Cup.
Falcons needed a late try from Cameron Nordli-Kelemeti to snatch a 25-22 win over their already-eliminated opponents, who had lost all their United Rugby Championship games this season.
Five Antonio Rizzi penalties put the Italians in control for long periods but the Falcons recovered to confirm second place in Pool A, and a last-16 clash with Glasgow Warriors.
Biarritz edged out pool winners Toulon 20-17 to guarantee third place in the group and also a spot in the last 16.
Hooker Santiago Socino scored a hat-trick of tries as Gloucester extended Dragons’ winless run to 12 matches with a 26-21 victory at Rodney Parade, while Benetton beat Perpignan 17-7.

For the sake of the game we must restrict the TMO to advising the ref only when called on to do so. Im sick to the back teeth of the endless interventions. With an inexperienced whistler like the bloke this morning, the TMO ran the show.
