Ngani Laumape flexes on winless Southland on social media after inspiring comeback win
All Black World Cup-reject Ngani Laumape has continued his redemption at Mitre 10 Cup level by inspiring Manawatu to a comeback win over perennial doormats Southland.
Without a win in over 2-years, Southland looked like breaking their winless run by storming out to a 26-7 lead at halftime only for a Turbo-charged comeback to break their hearts. Laumape scored two long-range tries as Manawatu returned 24-unanswered points.
The blockbusting midfielder turned to social media to flex on Southland after the big win, posting 'not on my watch' to Instagram.
His post was met with support from many of his Hurricanes' teammates Nehe Milner-Skudder, Ardie Savea, TJ Perenara, and Blues' winger Rieko Ioane while former teammate Cory Jane commented 'Humble'.
After missing out on Steve Hansen's World Cup squad, Laumape has taken a heads-down approach to his rugby. It took a week for Laumpae to break his silence following his omission, posting the quote “While they sit around and criticise I’m gna let my actions speak for me" to his social media.
His game against Southland certainly did that, with a personal best at Mitre 10 level in a number of stat categories. His performance didn't go unnoticed on Twitter, with many still baffled he isn't in Japan with the World Cup squad.
