Ollie Devoto injury mars Exeter win

Ollie Devoto is taken from the field

A nasty looking injury to Exeter Chiefs' centre Ollie Devoto marred a win on the road over Worcester at the Sixways Stadium in Pool C of the Premiership Rugby Cup.

Exeter came from behind to record an impressive 34-19 victory in front of 6,743.

Tom Howe got the Warriors off to a strong start, scoring the first of his three tries after just three minutes, as the home side enjoyed a good first half, finishing the half with a five-point lead.

However an injury to England centre Devoto in the 42nd minute marred proceedings.

Devoto was involved in a heavy collision in midfield before being treated on the field before being stretchered off the pitch to a round of applause from both sets of supporters.

As of yet, there has been no official update on his condition from the club.

Despite the injury, Exeter grew into the game. When Jacques Vermeulen scored in the 62nd minute, Joe Simmonds’ conversion put the visitors ahead.

Once they regained the lead Exeter stormed ahead, as tries from Sean Lonsdale and a last-minute score from Matt Kvesic ensured the Chiefs finished with a 15-point winning margin.
