Ospreys confirm 8 players and one coach departing region
The Ospreys have confirmed a number of players who are leaving the Region, marking their service with a special presentation during the annual dinner on Friday night.
The departing players boast over 600 appearances for the Ospreys between them.
The players confirmed as departing are:
Scott Baldwin – 165 apps/9 tries (Joining Harlequins)
Tom Habberfield – 135 apps/9 tries
Alex Jeffries – 18 apps/2 tries
Rob McCusker - 36 apps/1 try
Giorgi Nemsadze - 5 apps
James Ratti – 13 apps
Joe Thomas – 16 apps (Joined Otorohanga)
Paul James - 232 apps
Having announced his retirement in December, Osprey No.1, Paul James, was also presented with a special framed shirt to commemorate his 232 appearances between 2003 and 2017.
Off the field, the Ospreys are also saying farewell to Defence Coach, Brad Davis, who will leave the Region after three years service.
Managing Director, Andrew Millward, said:
“On behalf of everybody at the Ospreys, I’d like to thank each one of these individuals for their service and hard work while at the region.
“As we all know, this time of year traditionally sees confirmation of player and staff movement across the rugby world and we are no different. All of those leaving have contributed positively to our environment during their time with us, on and off the field, and no doubt will continue to do as we prepare for a Champions Cup play-off against the Scarlets later this month.
“In particular, we should acknowledge two players, Scott Baldwin and Tom Habberfield, who have been with us since they were teenagers, both representing their home region with distinction on more than 100 occasions.
“We wish all those who are leaving the very best for their futures wherever they go.”
Discussions continue regarding the future of a number of players and Ospreys Rugby will update accordingly as appropriate.

So if this ain’t the best Irish team ever then who exactly is? I don’t remember any other Irish team being this good & winning a series in the Land of the Long White Cloud. Yes I may rip them often for 8 X QF RWC exits & twice not even making it to the QF, but they’re a damn good team who many think can only improve, including me!
Go to commentsNot a squeek out of Leinster for weeks about this match. So quiet. The first team have been quitely building for this encounter under Nienaber’s direction. All fresh, all highly motivated. They are expecting a season’s best performance from Northhampton. They will match that. They will be fresher and apparently they will have 80,000 out of the 83,000 shouting for them. I do expect Northhampton to turn up big time. Not to be missed. On a tangent it is evident how the loss of a few Premiership teams has in some respect helped other Premiership teams and England. More quality over less teams makes the teams better, which has a knock on effect on England. Not the only factor contributing to England’s rise but one of them.
