'Pick-and-go king' Nowell delighted with Chiefs double
British and Irish Lions wing Jack Nowell was delighted with his contribution to a 34-6 victory over the Chiefs on Tuesday and claimed his domestic colleagues will not have been surprised by the manner of his opening try.
Exeter Chiefs flyer Nowell scored once in each half as the Lions' fringe players staked a late claim for a place in Warren Gatland's first-Test thoughts.
And Nowell says his first try, which saw him collect the ball from the back of a ruck and dive over a pile of bodies for the line, was true to type.
"Back in Exeter they call me the pick-and-go king because I keep stealing the forwards' tries!" he told Sky Sports.
"We want to come out here and be remembered. We wanted to move the ball about.
"Any try in a Lions shirt means a lot. I'm just thankful I could do it for the boys I was playing with."
Captain Rory Best was satisfied with a first midweek win of the tour, adding: "I told the lads before kick-off that if we let this one slip by you'll regret it.
"We have not been getting the wins but we have been putting ourselves into positions to win and win comfortably.
"We picked ourselves off the ground and did well. It would have been easy to give away a try in the final stages there but we kept marching forward, and to have a tight-head prop make the turn-over in the last three minutes summed it up."
The Lions face New Zealand in the first of three Tests on Saturday.

The prem games this season have mainly been great to watch , with the exception of Sale. So boring and predictable.
Let's have more of Bristol, Bath , Quins etc style of play.
Rugby needs expansive play to put more bums on seats . Not the dirge of rolling forward mauls constantly trying to bully their way over the line.
It has its place yes to draw the defence but the fans want to see more running rugby . Not win at any cost and sod the entertainment .
So Borthwick should drop Marcus Smith? He's the odd one out, forcing the rest of the English backline into a gameplay they don't know. Replacing him with Fin or Ford makes everyone more likely to succeed.
