Head coach Pierre Mignoni is set to leave Lyon after seven years with the French Top 14 side - the club have confirmed.

Mignoni - whose exit has been rumoured for months - will leave the club at the end of the current season.

It comes despite Lyon having their most successful season since 2019/20, when they finished second in the standings. They sit third in the Top 14 behind Bordeaux Begles and Montpellier and are well in the fight to compete for the knockout stages of the competition.

Mignoni's tenure at the club has seen LOU Rugby promoted to the Top 14 as PRO D2 champion in 2016; their move to the Matmut Stadium in Gerland in 2017 and the consolidation of their place as a top-four side in the French top flight since.

President of LOU Rugby Yann Roubert said: “The joint adventure with Pierre will have been great and there will remain great memories of his time at LOU Rugby.

"The club will remain immensely grateful for his having contributed so much to its progress during his seven years in Lyon and his legacy will be a solid base to continue to grow and seek the greatest successes.

"Before wishing him good luck for the rest of his career, there remains an end to the season full of challenges and ambitions to conclude this formidable story in the most beautiful way."

Lyon are one of the league's biggest spenders, with stars like Demba Bamba, Romain Taofifenua, Matthieu Bastareaud, Lima Sopoaga, Josua Tuisova and Jordan Taufua among the current roster.
