Pivac reveals injury latest on Halfpenny
Leigh Halfpenny will miss Scarlets' PRO14 semi-final against Glasgow Warriors, but coach Wayne Pivac is hopeful the Wales star could return for the final if his side get there.
The 29-year-old full-back suffered a hamstring injury against the Cheetahs on May 5 and he will not recover in time to play any part in Friday's last-four clash.
However, should Scarlets again reach the final as they attempt to defend their title, Pivac is more optimistic of having Halfpenny available.
"Leigh is out [of this weekend's match]," the coach said. "There was a small tear there but, with any luck, should we get through the semi-final, he may be available for the final."

There is better news for the semi-final on New Zealander Johnny McNicholl, who has been out with a shoulder problem.
"Johnny has been training really well for the last couple of weeks," Pivac added. "The last obstacle for him was full contact and he has done that and come through, so he is available for selection."
If the Scarlets beat Glasgow they would face either Champions Cup winners Leinster or Munster in the final in Dublin on May 26th.

It’s going to be Scott Barrett. He’s the coaches mate and captain of a previously elite team. Ardie a great option but scooter has worked with the coach and Ardie still as big a leader as needed.
Go to commentsI commend Colin Scotts bio All Balls. He was the first Aussie to make it to NFL. But he was poached and did a full apprenticeship at the University of Hawaii. He was 130kgs surfed played 1st grade cricket etc. big guy by normal but not NFL standards and a top athlete. Even then the nfl were picking up Tongans and Samoans for their natural size and explosive power. They want explosive power not cardio from the big boys so a guy like Taniela Tupou would have been good if picked up young enough. He has fast twitch and they’d bulk the little lad up and give him something to do. soccer teams set up academies and look for Over Sara’s talent eg Messi was at Barcelona since a teenager and harry kewell went to Leeds as a teenager like 16 or something.
