£275m Premiership offer on verge of collapse

Clubs owners are yet to agree with each other over the deal (Getty Images)

After the news broke yesterday that CVC Capital Partners had made an offer in the region of £275m for a controlling stake in Premiership Rugby, The Times are reporting that the 13 Premier Rugby Ltd member clubs are not in unanimous agreement as to how to proceed.

Bruce Craig, who owns Bath, strongly opposes the offer and all PRL members would need to be on board and agree to the offer for it to go ahead, as has previously been agreed in the terms of the co-ownership of PRL.

With a meeting of the club owners set to take place on Tuesday, Craig’s opposition would be enough to prevent the sale to CVC and keep the controlling stake in PRL with the owners of the clubs.

With a net worth of £300m according to The Sunday Times Rich List in 2017 and a willingness to bankroll success and a new stadium for the club, Craig is one of the Premiership owners in a strong position to turn down the offer and retain the current control that the group has over the competition.

Whilst CVC have reportedly insisted that they will only exert voting control over commercial elements, something which has seen most clubs eager to accept the offer, it is still a concern for Craig and, it would be fair to assume, the RFU.

After initial success in 2016 at international level and a new heads of agreement between the RFU and the Premiership clubs, both guaranteeing player release and sufficiently compensating clubs for the loss of players, relations have begun to breakdown once more between the two bodies of English rugby and it is likely that any takeover by CVC would only exacerbate this. The private equity firm would likely look for a higher level of compensation for player release in subsequent negotiations and with the RFU currently facing financial issues, that could prove a stumbling block for the England side’s bid for success in international rugby.

According to the latest report in The Times, the ownership of Bristol Bears could also oppose the deal, having not yet made their position on the offer clear. With Bristol backed by Steve Lansdown, whose fortune is valued at over £1.4b, per that same Rich List report from 2017, they are another club not in need of the immediate injection of funds that the CVC offer would provide.

Either Craig will need to be persuaded of the benefits of the offer between now and Tuesday, or CVC will have to amend their offer, either increasing their financial investment and thus the valuation of the Premiership – which they currently value at £550m – or withdraw their demands for a controlling stake, something which it seems they are unlikely to do.

Failing either of those actions, it looks as though the deal could be dead in the water come Tuesday.

Blues lose All Black for season ahead of Hurricanes derby

There's no way a betrayal hurts more than that from one who you considered your brother. Me and my best friend had been inseparable for years-we traveled together, confided in each other, and even talked about going into crypto as a team. I thought we had that kind of bond that could stand anything. I was wrong. It wasn't until the crypto investments actually started to grow that all wasn't well. It happened subtly at first: offhand comments about how "lucky" I was, how it was easy, how she was the one supposed to make the profits. At first, I laughed it off, thinking perhaps she was just frustrated with the financial struggles herself. What I didn't catch was the slow build-up of resentment. Then, one night, my whole world was turned upside down. I opened up my wallet app, ready to check on my holdings, when I saw something that almost made me sick-$370,000 was gone. Vanished without a trace. My fingers shook as I scrolled down the transaction history. Someone had accessed my money. Someone who knew exactly how to get in. Panic turned to horror as the realization hit me. There was only one person who had ever seen my seed phrase. My best friend. The next day, I confronted her, still holding on to the ridiculous hope that somehow it was all some misunderstanding. But she didn't deny it. She didn't even look guilty. Instead, she snapped, saying that she "deserved" it just as much as I did, that I had "too much" while she struggled, and that I was being selfish by not sharing more of my success. I stood there, speechless, as years of friendship crumbled in an instant. I wasn't just betrayed; I was blindsided by the entitlement of it all. Heartbroken but determined, I immediately began finding ways to recover my stolen funds. That is when I found ADRIAN LAMO HACKER. I read through so many testimonials from people actually going through similar situations as mine and, for the first time in days, I felt a glimmer of hope. I reached out ADRIAN LAMO HACKER Via WhatsApp: ‪+1 (909) 739‑0269/ Telegram: @ADRIANLAMOHACKERTECH ‬, and before I knew it, their team got down to work: following the money, making sense of all the transactions, decoding my so-called friend's attempt to cover her tracks. Days later, I received that call-it changed everything. My money was back. It was like relief overflowing, yet accompanied by such painful realization that, yes, I got my money back but lost a person in whom once my life was entrusted. Not all friendships are built to stand the test of time and success; not everyone's cheering for you until you win.

Ex-All Blacks left confused after bizarre game strategy

A few weeks ago, I came across a YouTube ad that stopped me in my tracks. It looked like a live broadcast of Elon Musk announcing Tesla’s “exclusive crypto project.” The production was flawless, professional, convincing, and eerily realistic. His voice, expressions, mannerisms everything matched what you’d expect from a real Tesla livestream. The ad promised massive returns if you “joined the project” by sending Bitcoin to a wallet address. I was skeptical at first, but the countdown timer, skyrocketing charts, and Elon’s confident pitch chipped away at my doubt. Eventually, I gave in. I sent $8,000 worth of BTC, thinking I was getting in early on a groundbreaking initiative. But just a few hours later, something didn’t sit right. I checked Tesla’s official channels. No mention of any crypto project. My stomach dropped.I rushed to a blockchain explorer and looked up the wallet address I’d sent the funds to. What I saw confirmed my worst fears: my BTC was being split and moved rapidly across multiple wallets in a process known as “smurfing,” a common money laundering technique. I had been scammed. In desperation, I searched for help and came acrossCHAINTRACE ASSET RECOVERYa blockchain forensics firm. Honestly, I didn’t expect much but I reached out anyway. To my surprise, they responded quickly and took my case seriously. Their team began tracking the funds in real time, tracing the flow of my BTC through a web of wallets.Incredibly, they managed to link the stolen funds to a wallet connected to an account on Finance, one of the world’s largest crypto exchanges. They didn’t waste a second. Within 48 hours, CHAINTRACE ASSET RECOVERYhad coordinated with Binance’s security team, who were able to freeze the scammer’s account before the funds could be withdrawn or laundered further.A few days later, the impossible happened the full $8,000 was returned to me.Even now, I can hardly believe it. I went from being scammed by a deepfake crypto con to getting every dollar back, all thanks to the quick action and expertise of CHAINTRACE ASSET RECOVERY.If you’ve fallen victim to a crypto scam, don’t give up. Glasgow's honest take on Sam Prendergast: 'I think they make it easy for him'

As a truck driver who spends long hours on the road, I understand the value of hard work. My job demands long shifts, constant focus, and time away from loved ones. To make extra income during my limited downtime, I started mining cryptocurrency. After months of dedication, I finally saved enough to buy BITCOIN through P2P on Binance. It felt like a major milestone. I was proud of what I had built, turning my effort into BITCOIN, an asset I believed in. That pride quickly turned into heartbreak. Someone I trusted scammed me out of $85,000 worth of BITCOIN in a single transaction. I was crushed. I had sacrificed sleep, missed out on time with friends and family, and worked relentlessly, only to have everything taken from me in seconds. The emotional and financial blow was devastating. Still, I was not ready to give up. I started researching ways to recover stolen BITCOIN and came across TECH CYBER FORCE RECOVERY. I saw countless testimonials from people who had lost cryptocurrency and managed to recover it with their help. Desperate but hopeful, I reached out and shared my story. To my complete shock, TECH CYBER FORCE RECOVERY managed to trace and recover my stolen BITCOIN within just 21 hours. The funds were safely returned to my wallet. I cannot describe the relief I felt. Months of hard work were not wasted after all. My belief in BITCOIN as a store of value had been shaken, but thanks to TECH CYBER FORCE RECOVERY, I got a second chance. Even more incredible, their team helped law enforcement track down the scammer responsible. That person was arrested, and justice was served.
