Ramiro Moyano touches down twice as Edinburgh win at Dragons

Ramiro Moyano scored two tries as Edinburgh deservedly picked up the spoils with a 30-14 bonus-point win over the Dragons at Rodney Parade.

Edinburgh dominated in terms of territory and possession and could easily have won by a greater margin.

Debutant Emiliano Boffelli and Damien Hoyland also scored tries, with two penalties and a pair of conversions from Blair Kinghorn completing the scoring.

It was a miserable night for the Dragons, who lost Taine Basham and Jack Dixon in the first half, but they managed two tries from Jonah Holmes and Sam Davies, with Davies converting both.

The Dragons suffered two early hammer blows. In the first minute, star flanker Basham needed attention for a head injury and, while he was being treated, Edinburgh produced a flowing move which culminated in Argentinian full-back Boffelli marking his first appearance by kicking ahead and winning the race to touch down.

Basham left the field to be replaced by Huw Taylor as the Scottish club continued to dominate, and it came as no surprise when they extended their lead with another excellent try.

James Lang and Magnus Bradbury both made telling bursts before the visitors created an overlap for Moyano to brush off a tackle from Holmes to score.

The Dragons did not have a sniff of the try line in the opening quarter, but out of nowhere they created a splendid try.

Jordan Williams squeezed through a half-gap to off-load to Harrison Keddie, who ran 30 metres before sending Davies over.

Edinburgh were still dominating, but again the hosts broke out of defence to create a simple run-in for Holmes. Davies converted and remarkably the Dragons were 14-12 ahead.

The hosts lost centre Dixon with a shoulder injury before Edinburgh regained the lead when Moyano crossed for his second to leave the visitors with a 17-14 interval lead.

Kinghorn extended the advantage with two straightforward penalties before Edinburgh sealed victory in the last minute with a bonus-point try from Hoyland.
