Saracens fans welcome worst-kept secret in Elliot Daly's arrival
Saracens fans have taken to Twitter to welcome Elliot Daly to Allianz Park ahead of his move in the summer. It had long been rumoured to be happening, and did not take many fans by surprise.
They were still happy to see a player of Daly’s quality team up with the Premiership champions, particularly with David Strettle reaching the end of his career.
This means that both Sarries’ pack and backline will be laden with internationals, with Owen Farrell, Liam Williams and Richard Wigglesworth already in the squad, and Alex Goode a perennial contender for England selection.
With the Lion capable of playing as a centre, fullback or on the wing, he will only make England’s most dominant team even more formidable. However, some fans have raised their concerns as to who he will replace, with many disliking the thought of him usurping Nick Tompkins at centre, who has played remarkably well for Saracens this season.

Some rival fans have chipped in regarding the club’s salary cap, and question how they can bring in a player of Daly’s quality, but the fans were happy to point out that a number of outgoing players will free up some space in the squad to accommodate the England fullback.
Saracens are due to play Glasgow Warriors at home in the Champions Cup quarter-final in March, a game that they will enter as favourites. Alongside Exeter, they are running away at the top of the Gallagher Premiership, and look on course to add to their trophy haul at the end of the season. The addition of Daly next season would surely make them the most threatening team in Europe.
With Saracens and Exeter looking impressive, this does potentially create a greater divide between them and the rest of the clubs in England. But with All Black Malakai Fekitoa arriving at Wasps next season, their fans will hope that they will not be weakened at all.

So Ireland will be tired, despite having the most rested test squad in the world. They only play tests, champions cup and urc play off games ffs! Case in point; Leinster sent a B squad to SA for their last two games while their first xv rested up and trained at their leisure for the sf vs Saints at the so called ‘neutral venue’ of Croke Park. So tired? Do me a favour… And as for “people’s champions”? Seriously??? Outside of Ireland they are respected for their ability to win 6N. And of course plenty of inconsequential test friendlies without any real pressure. WC ko games when the pressure is white hot? Not so much…
