Scarlets flanker James Davies will not play again this season
Wales flanker James Davies will not play again this season after undergoing hip surgery.
Davies has not played since Wales’ bronze medal defeat to New Zealand at the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan last November.
The 29-year-old Davies, brother of Wales centre Jonathan, is a huge favourite at the Scarlets with nearly 100 appearances for the region since making his debut in 2013.
“Unfortunately, James continues to struggle with a hip injury that has prevented his full return to training,” said a Scarlets spokesperson on the club website.
“A decision for surgical intervention to facilitate his recovery has been made. It is hoped that this will allow James to begin the 2020-21 season fit and healthy.”
The Scarlets’ season is currently in limbo as the Guinness PRO 14 was suspended indefinitely on Thursday because of the coronavirus outbreak.
