Scotland call up Fraser Brown as coach exits
The Scotland Women's rugby team have confirmed that they have appointed Fraser Brown as a consultant coach.
Brown - a Glasgow Warriors centurion - will serve as the Forwards Coach on a consultancy basis, supporting the team up to and during the WXV 2 tournament.
He brings recent coaching experience from Watsonian FC in the Super Series and the women's Warriors’ side in the Celtic Challenge.
This coaching change follows the departure of Assistant Coach Martin Haag from the Scotland Women's management team. The former Bath and England player had been working as a coaching consultant with the USA Women’s team during the 2021 Rugby World Cup in New Zealand before officially joining the Scotland Women's team in February 2023.
Scotland Women Head Coach Bryan Easson said: “We’re very pleased to welcome Fraser to our coaching group. Fraser has a wealth of experience in high performance sport as both a player and coach, and we are really looking forward to working with him.
“I’d like to express my gratitude to Martin for his commitment and contribution to Scotland Women over the years, and we all wish him well for the future.”
On his appointment, Brown said: “I’m both honoured and excited about the opportunity to work with Scotland Women’s players and management group.
"I’ve both seen and experienced first-hand the growth and potential of the women’s game in Scotland after my time coaching in the Celtic Challenge, and I’m really excited to see what we can achieve as a group."
Scotland Women's rugby team has announced an extended 35-player training squad in preparation for hosting Wales and Fiji in two Autumn Tests, followed by the WXV 2 tournament in Cape Town in September. The squad, which includes 19 forwards and 16 backs, will gather for a four-week training camp starting on July 29. From this group, 30 players will be selected for the upcoming international matches.
Easson has included five uncapped players in the squad, among them Cieron Bell and Leia Brebner-Holden, who were previously part of the extended squad for the 2024 Guinness Women’s Six Nations.

Kiwicentric response, no surprises there. But even if you look at a team like the Tahs, last this year, they are truly formidable on paper! The end of then Rebels may spell the beginning of Super success for Oz.
Go to commentsThis would be great news for England, but I would have doubts about whether he deserves a hybrid contract. He's not as good as Feyi-Waboso or Freeman, and he might be behind Roebuck and Sleightholme in the pecking order. Behind them Hendy and Elliott are probably at a similar level to Arundell.
