One debutant as Scotland mix things up for Chile with 10 changes

Edinburgh hooker Patrick Harrison could make his Scotland debut this Saturday against Chile after being named on the bench by Gregor Townsend.

The 22-year-old is the only uncapped member of the squad that will run out at the Estadio Nacional in Santiago.

Townsend has rung the changes with his starting XV, only keeping five players from the 42-7 win over the USA.

Co-captains Jamie Ritchie and Sione Tuipulotu are two of the five, alongside Kyle Rowe, Kyle Steyn and Alex Craig.

Six members of the starting XV, however, only have a solitary cap.

“Paddy Harrison is a great story of someone who has not had the opportunities with Edinburgh over the last few weeks but has played really well in those three games for Edinburgh A,” Townsend said after selecting the hooker for the tour.

“He’s competing with the likes of [Glasgow’s] Angus Fraser and Gregor Hiddleston, who are also playing well in that position.

“Whether it’s Paddy who comes through from Peebles to Edinburgh and then is on our tour, or someone comes from playing for the Sharks, or Oyonnax, we will judge who we believe is the best person to get this opportunity, for them to grow and also help the team win.”
