Scotland head coach Bryan Easson believes his side are entering a “fresh, exciting period” after selecting seven uncapped players for the upcoming TikTok Six Nations.

Forward trio Erinn Foley, Emma Turner and Fiona Cooper as well as backs Rhea Clarke, Fran McGhie, Holly McIntyre and Beth Blacklock are the newcomers among the 36-player squad named on Monday.

It has also been confirmed that Chris Laidlaw will become Scotland’s attack coach ahead of a campaign that kicks off against current title holders England in Newcastle on Saturday, March 25.

“We are entering a fresh, exciting period for the Scotland Women programme, with professional contracts in place, new faces to the squad and management team and a new Rugby World Cup cycle beginning,” said Easson.

“It was fantastic to get the Celtic Challenge competition under way back in January and a number of younger players have rightfully earned their spot in the squad after some impressive performances across the four games.

“We have a good mix of experienced and younger players, so it will be exciting to see what the group are capable of over the coming weeks.”
