Six Saracens injured in Scotland - including Owen Farrell
Six Saracens were injured in their bruising opening Heineken Champions Cup victory over Glasgow Warriors in Scotstoun this afternoon.
Saracens maintained their 100 per cent record this season by grinding out a 13-3 Pool 3 victory at Scotstoun.
Michael Rhodes scored the only try as the Premiership champions came out on top in an almighty battle, England duo Mako Vunipola and Billy Vunipola withdrawn with ankle and arm injuries respectively.
“Mako’s is a calf injury, Billy’s an arm – but it’s too early to say how serious they are,” said McCall.
However Owen Farrell, Nick Isiekwe, Maro Itoje and Jamie George all suffered other various levels of injury.
“Owen Farrell got a bang on his knee but he seemed to be OK after the game. Nick Isiekwe hurt his calf or his ankle too and that’s why he wasn’t able to continue on the field.
“Maro and Jamie have both got broken noses. It was a tough old game,” said McCall. “Is that an unusual injury toll? Of course it is. But it is the way it is...It’s a bit of a worry."

I'm a huge ABs fan. I think the game was messy but enjoyable to watch. The Italians really defended very well... To see ABs try different ways to break them during phase play was interesting to watch
Go to commentsMy bad, added missing words. Just saying so many injuries that it was a 23% win rate team for a lot of games.
And they'll be up around something like 70% next year which will see Penney get reappointed!
