Supermarket chairman takes on top job at Premiership Rugby
Andrew Higginson has been named as Premiership Rugby’s new chairman.
The current chairman of the Morrison’s supermarket chain will take up his new role on New Year’s Day, 2020, Premiership Rugby announced in a press release.
Higginson was previously chief executive officer of Tesco’s retail services division and served as an independent non-executive director of the Rugby Football Union between 2011 and 2016.
He said: “This is an exciting time for club rugby with outstanding talent in the game, substantial opportunities for growth and the support of an experienced investment partner (CVC Capital Partners).
“Alongside the rest of the board, I look forward to working with Darren (Childs, CEO) and the team at Premiership Rugby to help deliver the vision of an even more popular and successful sport in the years ahead.”
A statement released by Premiership Rugby said: "Premiership Rugby has established a new Board of Directors to oversee its strategic and financial growth and development.
"The Board, which will be chaired by Andrew Higginson, is part of the revised governance structure for the organisation following the investment by CVC Capital Partners to help grow the sport and the appointment of Darren Childs as CEO earlier this year."

Yes. Its bizarre what hes done. From a try scoring weapon to utter mediocrity. Reminds me of the SBW league return and gormless boxing stuff. If he'd just focussed on rugby, he'd have been an all time great...the potential and glimpses of excellence were there.

Massive credit to Italy for turning up, shame the All Blacks didn’t match the intent of their opposition.
Shthouse all round.
