Temporary stop put on unbeaten Leinster gallop as trip to Scarlets is off
A stop has finally been put to the latest winning Leinster gallop in the Guinness PRO14, their next match away to Scarlets next Sunday getting postponed.
The three-in-a-row champions had been on fire so far in the 2020/21 season, winning all seven matches and scoring 40 tries, a massive number compared to the meagre eleven Scarlets managed in their seven outings.
Having already won away at Benetton, Glasgow and Ospreys, a return to Wales was next on the Leinster hit list but that away day will now have to wait following a statement released on Thursday evening by the PRO14.
It read: "The round eight Guinness PRO14 fixture between Scarlets and Leinster has been postponed.
"The game was due to take place on Sunday, November 29, in Llanelli. However, a small number of Scarlets players have returned positive cases of Covid-19 and others identified as close contacts are now isolating.
"Having considered all of the available evidence, the PRO14 medical advisory group has deemed that this fixture cannot go ahead as scheduled. PRO14 Rugby will examine potential dates in early 2021 to reschedule the game.
"Ulster, who played against Scarlets on Sunday, carried out routine squad testing on Thursday and will receive their results in the next 24 hours."
Llanelli is where Wales will host England in the Autumn Nations Cup on Saturday.

The match experience still sucks at SR games, irrespective of the game being a little quicker. Rugby has to compete with so much in the modern world, if you’re going to get people to leave their houses and pay to watch a game in winter then the experience has to be worthwhile.
Go to commentsIt’s a good, timely wake up call for NZ Rugby (seem to be a few of them lately!) - sort out the bureaucratic nonsense at board level. We can’t expect to stay the number one option without keeping fans/players engaged. We’ve obviously been bleeding players to league for years but can’t let the floodgates open (although I think this headline is hyperbolic as it’s a result of a recent Warriors pathways system where they are tracking things more closely) Understand the need to focus boys on rugby if they’re at a proud rugby school too, don’t think it’s harsh at all re Barakat in Hamilton. Reward the committed players with squad positions. An elite 1st XV system in NZ has done more for league than they even realise, think it’s good to protect our game further.
