The 'clocking off' Worcester post that won Twitter Wednesday night

Worcester were widely lauded on Wednesday night for posting what numerous people described as the tweet of the season during their Premiership Rugby Cup match away to Gloucester. The Warriors had been updating their Twitter account with the latest news from the game at Kingsholm but with the hosts having just gone into a 21-14 lead in a fixture they were to win 49-21, the account administrator decided to reference off-field matters at the club and pack up posting for the remainder of the match.
“52m | That’s 65 per cent of the match played. So we are clocking off for the night and heading back to the ranch,” read the tweet, the 65 per cent referencing the percentage of last month’s wages received by staff at the financially stricken club.
Numerous followers of the online account described the post as the “tweet of the season”, including the Worcester media counterpart at fellow Premiership club Newcastle, who added: “Big mic-drop.”
Gloucester prop Jamal Ford-Robinson also posted a sincere reply. “Dear admin. Keep this up and you'll have no problem finding another gig. Might even get paid in full too. Sincerely, Rugby twitter.”
No update on the Worcester match was posted to the club’s account during the remaining 28 minutes of play, but the account cranked up post-game with the result being confirmed and then comments added from Chris Morgan, their coach on the night.
The “clocking off for the night” Worcester tweet proved popular as it quickly elicited nearly 100 responses, was retweeted over 550 times and was liked by more than 4,250 people.
The club also later posted a message for Wasps after it emerged that their Premiership colleagues had asked for an administrator to be appointed due to their particular financial problems. “Our thoughts are with the players, staff and supporters of Wasps tonight. We know what you are all going through and the concerns you have,” read the Worcester tweet.

I guess we may all agree on the fact, that the ABs and Boks are the two in contest for No 1 in rugby history (the triple-A sort of) …. the Wallabies, England and France are the next tier, with Ireland being the new kid in town (AA) …. in my view it makes little sense creating imaginary competitions (unless you have too much time to waste)
Go to commentsWhat a joke. Total joke and the pundits commentating, all of whom know a bit about the game, could barely disguise their contempt. Reaching for the card then pulling back when he realised a red card would carry further match suspensions is simply not his decision to make. A clear and obvious influence on the outcome of this match and indeed, the championship path.
