The Rassie Erasmus reaction to Steven Kitshoff’s retirement

Springboks boss Rassie Erasmus has given his reaction to Tuesday’s confirmation that Steven Kitshoff, the double Rugby World Cup-winning loosehead, has retired from playing with immediate effect. The prop, who missed the entire 2024 Test season, had returned to the Stormers following a short post-World Cup 2023 stay at Ulster.

However, the 33-year-old sustained a serious neck injury when playing Currie Cup for Western Province away to the Griquas in Kimberley in early September. Following an operation, he was advised by a specialist neurosurgeon that there would be a high risk of another injury should he continue playing.

A sub in the 2019 World Cup final win over England in Japan, Kitshoff was a starter in the 2023 decider against the All Blacks in France – an appearance that turned out to be his last in an 83-cap Test career.

Erasmus said: “We are extremely sad that Steven’s career had to end this way, but we would like to extend our gratitude to him for his hard work and the sacrifices he has made over the years to become such a vital cog in the team.

“He is a true team man, and he earned enormous respect from his teammates and the coaches with his high work ethic, drive to be the best he can on the field, and his down-to-earth nature. He will always remain a warrior and fine ambassador of what the Springboks stand for, and we wish him luck as he begins this new chapter in his life.”

SA Rugby president Mark Alexander added: “It is with mixed emotions that we acknowledge Steven Kitshoff’s announcement of retirement due to medical reasons. Steven’s illustrious career and unparalleled dedication to the Springboks have made an indelible mark on South African rugby.

He has been a true servant and stalwart of our back-to-back World Cup-winning Springboks, representing our country with distinction on all levels of the game. His name will forever be etched in the annals of Springbok rugby as one of our finest loosehead props.

“Not only was Steven an exceptional player on the field, but he also exemplified what it means to be an ambassador for South African rugby off the field. His sportsmanship, integrity, and commitment to the game have inspired countless individuals, and has set a standard for future generations.

“As Steven embarks on new endeavours, we extend our heartfelt best wishes to him. May this new chapter bring him fulfilment, success, and joy. He can walk tall, knowing that he will always be remembered as one of the great Springboks of his time.”

I got a call from a trader for the first time in August 2024. Less than a year later, through a fabricated process of baiting me with unbelievable profits, and matching my losses, I was in over $185,000. The platform had assigned my personal broker to me, that called me from time to time to tell me about their new offers. And they said he was one of their top brokers, they further told me the broker had made a lot of people so rich. The broker told me there was an insurance that they get on them, every trade that we do that's secured and we could never lose money, he will put in there that it's an insured secure trade, and they buy the insurance for it. so i was assured, I won't lose any money on if we lose. Okay? But the catch is, you have to bring in an additional $25,000 in order to get that secured trade status on your account. I stupidly did this. Once I hit a certain profit level, I tried to remove money from them. That's when they denied me being able to take out my own money. They also told me to pay an additional fee to bring out my money. I was blocked out of my accounts and denied withdrawal even after i contacted them in various ways. Of course they never told me that additional of $25k from the beginning. So when I heard that, then it was pretty obvious to me that they were running a scam.I was very sad and confused after investing a lot. Earlier this year February 15th 2025, i was able to get my invested capital back including profit and the $25k additional fees with the help of the INTELLIGENCE CYBER WIZARD Assets Recovery (You can contact them below).
