TikTok Top Picks TikTok Women’s Six Nations: Round Four

The penultimate round of the TikTok Women’s Six Nations saw England roar to victory over Ireland, France win against Wales and Scotland narrowly defeat Italy by 29-21.

Going into the fifth and final round, a point separates England and France at the top of the table, teeing up a tense showdown when the two sides face off at Twickenham on Saturday, in front of a record crowd.

Here are TikTok’s ‘Top Picks’ from Round Four of the Championships.

Wes Anderson-inspired matchday content
In this ‘day in the life’-style sketch, @scottishrugby jumps on a recent TikTok trend that sees people create content in the style of film director Wes Anderson. The skit follows TikTok creator @Kurtious on his matchday experience, from waking up and taking the dog for a walk, to watching the players warm up and getting the action underway.

Holly Aitchinson’s mega side step
The TikTok community has been going crazy over Holly Aitchinson’s incredible side step during England’s match against Ireland. Her skilful run has racked up over 200K views on the platform so far.

Who doesn’t love Irish dancing?
Irish fans came together to share their best dance moves at Musgrave Park ahead of their match against England, and @irishrugby captured all of the content. The fans danced along to Amy McDonald’s song, ‘This is the Life’.

Learning from the grassroots gems
Prop Cerys Hale and centre Hannah Jones were amongst a number of Welsh players reacting to some of the best tries, tackles and runs from grassroots rugby teams on TikTok.

The Scots cheer their team to victory
Scottish fans roared their team to victory this weekend at the DAM Health Stadium, with @scottishrugby capturing their spirited rendition of ‘Loch Lamond’.

Au Revoir, Jessy!
French veteran Jessy Trémoulière celebrated her retirement from international rugby with a guard of honour from her teammates, before being presented with a framed shirt. Trémoulière, who has played over 70 times for the national team, announced she will be retiring at the end of this year’s Women’s Six Nations. Au Revoir, Jessy!

I think that France are a real danger to Red Roses. There will come a time when our winning sequence against them stops. Perhaps next weekend might not be a bad time to lose. Ryan has justified selection with his performance but he was only selected ahead of Cummings because of the home connection. Same for Aki, who hasn’t quite justified his place ahead of Tuipulotu to the same extent. Lowe has also been pretty poor and should have been dropped after the first test.

All in all, AF has been fortunate he’s only touring Aus because NZ & SA would have seen his selection bias castigated, big time!

I’ll disagree by saying what I always said, as a player and now as a referee—no one call ever determines a match. On the Huw Jones try, there’s clearly a tackler hanging on his neck; that should have been a YC and perhaps the Lions score two tries in that time, making the 79th minute actions irrelevant. (I’m a U.S. fan, no dog in this fight, and think the Jac Morgan play could easily have been called a penalty.)

I like Lam but he is not going to make it to All Blacks playing 12 with Barrett, Tupaea, and Tavatavanawai all clearly ahead of him.

And it appears Lam will remain at 12 for Auckland as the young former U20 star Xavi Taele, who is too small for 12, is the starter at 13 this season.

Nine-time All Black Braydon Ennor the latest Crusaders re-signing

MacLeod plays much better at 12 than he has in his limited time at 13.

And with both Ennor and Fainga’anuka signed and very high quality 13s, I simply don’t see MacLeod starting any matches at 13.

It won’t happen because of Havili being captain but I’d like to see MacLeod get a run of matches starting at 12 with Havili on the bench at this point in both of their careers. This would require naming a new captain which I don’t see happening.

With Ioane now being seen exclusively as a wing by Razor, thank goodness, the 13 jersey really is up for grabs as neither Proctor or ALB were any more than solid in their tests.

Would not be surprised at all if Ennor is called into the All Black squad for RC as injury cover if either Proctor or, almost definitely, ALB gets injured.

And to be fair Ennor is the best distributor and defender of any of the 13s in NZ but maybe not quite the ball carrier as Proctor or Ioane.

ALB is just crap all around. Lacks the power or step to make line breaks, constantly takes offside penalties to cover for his lack of pace on defence and he tackles high far too often. But hey he is a 85 test career backup who can play both 12 and 13, lol.

Neither Marcus Smith, finn smith, nor Henry pollock can be considered “Losers”.

They are all young men at the outset of their rugby journeys.

JVD is a brilliant player who simply fell victim of the over predominance of Irish players in the squad, with Farrell having to balance the Irish representation without being accused of bias.

The simple fact is that there were to many Irish players in the squad.

What I find interesting after last weekend’s game is the stark contrast between how the Aussie management responded about the ref’s decision and how they responded in the 2015 World Cup match against Scotland when Joubert committed an unbelievable error at the end of the game to let the Aussies win - no problem then accepting the judgement call of the ref…. Let’s hope we don’t get a fresh load of whingeing after the game tomorrow!
