Two new caps in France team to face Scotland

Romain Ntamack, Guilhem Guirado and Antoine Dupont.

Jacques Brunel has named his France team to face Scotland in their first World Cup warm-up match next Saturday in Nice.

Five months after rounding off a disappointing Six Nations with a scrappy win over Italy in Rome, Brunel, who named his World Cup 31 back in June, has opted to give Test debuts against Scotland to winger Alivereti Raka and back row Francois Cros.

There are only four survivors from their last outing in Rome, full-back Maxime Medard, winger Damian Penaud, scrum-half Antoine Dupont and No8 Greg Alldritt.

FRANCE: Médard; Penaud, Fofana, Fickou, Raka; Lopez, Dupont; Alldritt, Ollivon, Cros, Vahaamahina, Gabrillagues, Slimani, Chat, Poirot (capt). Reps: Mauvaka, Priso, Steniao, Lambey, Picamoles, Serin, Ntamack, Ramos.

SCOTLAND: Hogg; Graham, Jones, Taylor, McGuigan; Hastings, Price; Strauss, Ritchie, Barclay, Gilchrist, Toolis, Berghan, McInally (capt), Bhatti. Reps: Turner, Reid, Fagerson, Cummings, Fagerson, Horne, Hutchinson, Kinghorn.

Referee: N Owens (Wales).

Well done to the Lions who once again this century can only beat Australia, a great big money spinner is the Lions tours but actually winning rugby series against the All Blacks & South Africa are something that in the 21st century hasn't happened & judging by the fact only one Northern Hemisphere team has ever won the RWC in 2003 the struggle is real for the Lions who on this tour were beaten by Argentina.

yep, the situation with the incumbents really a different discussion though. It’s not like there aren’t others that performed in Super Rugby better than them either.


You also got to remember that with that other discussion, the All Blacks are always looking into the future. They have to, they don’t have the resources to survive on blunt force concepts like ‘immediate selection’. So when they have two players, and one has signed on for a longer period and looks committed, they do put into perspective what that player will continue to provide if he is given the opportunity now, over the player who wont' be there in future. Bit irreverent in this case but I thought it worth pointing out.
