James Hume and Michael Lowry have completed their return from injury to start at inside centre and full-back respectively. The pair are among five changes to the starting Ulster side that was narrowly defeated by Ospreys last Saturday. 

Lowry will be joined in the back three by Robert Baloucoune and Louis Ludik, who retain their places on the wings. Luke Marshall has been named in midfield alongside Hume. In the half-backs, Bill Johnston will start at fly-half and is partnered by David Shanahan.

In the pack, Eric O’Sullivan and Marty Moore will anchor the front row with Adam McBurney selected at hooker. Alan O’Connor will captain the team from second row with Kieran Treadwell. Nick Timoney and Jordi Murphy return to the starting line-up, with Marcell Coetzee completing the back row. 

Former Ulster favourite Ruan Pienaar returns as Cheetahs skipper. Coach Hawies Fourie has made nine changes to the side from last week’s defeat at Leinster.

In the front row, Boan Venter, Wilmar Arnoldi and Luan du Bruin switch places with Charles Marais, Joseph Dweba and Aranos Coetzee. 

Sintu Manjezi returns from a shoulder injury and will be starting on lock with Walt Steenkamp. JP du Preez will be providing cover on the bench. The wings are Craig Barry and Rhyno Smith with Clayton Blommetjies at full-back. 

The two sides have met on three previous occasions with each team winning once at home and sharing a 39-draw in Bloemfontein in September 2018.
