Jarryd Hayne shakes a big Queensland hit

NRL Superstar Jarryd Hayne was given an early reminder of the ferocity of State of Origin, getting smashed early doors after a receiving an awkwardly bouncing kick.

Hayne wasn’t down long, chasing the following kick up and before going on to score later in the game.

Gold Coast Titans star Hayne, 28, has only been back in the NRL for 10 months following his unsuccessful attempt to represent Fiji in rugby sevens at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

Willie john is absolutely right.

The lions should be sacrosanct home grown players.

If you are going to select mercenaries who didnt grow up dreaming of playing for the lions , then the whole lions ethos is pointless.

Ireland cant grow enough top class players so in come the foreigners

I worked on RA for years, and coincidentally, my missus was working for the company that developed the drug he was taking at the time. So, we could discuss it with him in a lot of detail. He was very open about it with us. You can search YouTube for videos of him discussing it when he was younger. Obviously, that detail is not possible for me to discuss here.

So I’ve seen exactly what RA can do to children and how devastating it can be. If he did suffer from it then he’s either been very fortunate and it has receded or it was no more than it’s mildest form. It’s not a condition for which (sadly) there is any effective treatment, far less a cure.

The reason it’s a good thing you weren’t allowed to compete at the Cross Country Championships is that had black South Africans been allowed to compete, you probably wouldn’t have been selected. That and you were representing an Apartheid State.

Flyhalf is the newer term, first five eighth predates the split between league and union and is still the term in the former.

I'm a kiwi but refuse to use the term but all back positions were named after formation positions like that, scrumhalf was halfback, wings were three-quarterbacks, 10 and 12 were first five eighth and second five eighth, 13 was the centre and fullback was the Fullback, all based on how far between they are between the Fullback and the front lines.

It means the Lions were the equivalent of the baa baa’s when they played arg and arg subsequently rested key players ahead of TRC and pulled in a raft of newbies vs England, albeit England did play pretty well. I put it down to Blackett and McGuigan personally.
