Video: Schmidt sends clear message to referee on targeting of Sexton
Joe Schmidt has called for more protection to be given to Johnny Sexton.
The flyhalf was targeted for some rough treatment on Ireland's last visit to Paris, including an off-the-ball hit by Yoann Maestri, when they were defeated 10-9 by France.
Sexton didn't manage to finish that game, succumbing to the heavy knocks.
Ireland begin their Natwest 6 Nations campaign against the French on Saturday and Schmidt was hopeful that the same tactics wouldn't be employed this time round by their opponents.
Ireland named their team on Friday and it includes James Ryan in the second row ahead of Devin Toner.

By that logic the Boks could play Wales and Scotland and call it a tour of the UK.
