Watch: New Brumbies winger Toni Pulu beats 7 defenders to score improbable try
Ex-Chiefs winger Toni Pulu had the Brumbies management rubbing their hands together after their new signing scored this blistering individual try, beating no less than seven defenders as Counties lost to Taranaki 26-19.
The American-born winger defied belief on this slicing run, rolling the first defender like a Day 5 pitch before veering infield through the Taranaki defence with many diving tacklers failing to land a hand on him.
The 29-year-old who debuted with Counties in 2012, signed a 2-year deal with the Canberra based Super franchise after three seasons with the Chiefs. He will compete with Henry Speight and Lausii Taliauli for a starting spot, with Chance Peni, James Dargaville and Andrew Muirhead unconfirmed yet for next season.
If he can continue his Mitre 10 Cup form into next year, the Brumbies may have found a nice bargain.

I've read lots of discussions about it here and on other site and the context I understood was he only just missed the cut (like lots of good players did).
It is easy to construe that he was told he wasn't going to be chosen at his current weight, but I'd say that his weight was just the reason he was given why he wasn't chosen over other players (who went on to be very good themselves).
