Watch: Crusaders prodigious fullback-in-waiting scores 80m try after chip and chase

By RugbyPass

The depth at the Crusaders these days is something else.

Tasman Makos fullback Will Jordan had a remarkable debut provincial season last year and looked certain to hit Super Rugby in 2018. The 20-year-old would have likely featured for every other team had he been on their roster, but such is the depth at the Crusaders he wasn't able to debut.

In his second season with Tasman, Jordan is proving the Crusaders have a superstar waiting in the wings after a man-of-the-match performance against Southland, bagging two tries and having a hand in one more.

On the stroke of fulltime, he scored this special try, turning a loose ball into an 80-metre effort after chipping the defence from just outside his own 22. After waiting to regather the audacious kick, Jordan sums up his options before putting on an incredible turn of speed leaving the Southland cover defence stunned.

After scoring 19 tries in 11 matches for Christchurch Boys High 1st XV in 2015, he played in the Christchurch club system before being snapped up by Tasman on a 2-year deal. A trip to the World Rugby under-20 championships last year raised Jordan's stock as he shone in a title-winning New Zealand side, before coming home to play Mitre 10 Cup where he impressed enough to take a Crusaders squad spot.

Jordan's full range of skills leave no doubt here at RugbyPass the former Christchurch Boys product will be wearing black by 2023. This kid is the real deal and the Crusaders have a special fullback in the wings.
