Watch: Wade does speed test in front of NFL scouts
One of rugby’s most interesting stories over the past year has been Christian Wade’s move to American Football.
The former Wasps and England winger left rugby in 2018 to embark on a possible career in the NFL, training with the International Player Pathway Program in Florida over the past few months.
But yesterday he had a chance to showcase what he is capable in front of NFL scouts at the Pro Day, in the hope of earning a contract with a team.
NFL UK shared a clip on Twitter of the 27-year-old running the 40-yard dash:
Wade clocked a time of 4.53s, and although that is not the greatest time ever, it is still an impressive feat.
The former British and Irish Lions tourist’s main strength will be his speed and his agility, two traits that made him one of the most lethal wingers in the Premiership. As his trial continues, he will undoubtedly be able to display what made him such a threat in rugby.

Fair comment but we also can't ignore the the fact that NZ Rugby had to threaten to sack the guy & his coaching team in 2022. The ABs were literally a laughing stock at that point. The flow on effects don't disappear overnight. But yeah, I hear ya. Moving on.
Go to commentsSeriously world rugby, you gave the mens 7s player of the year to someone who played....... 3 tournaments.
It does beg the question, In almost 25 years of this mens award there has only been 1 X2 winner of the award, does everybody eventually get a turn at winning it?
Please don't get me started on the womens 7s player of the year, it had to be Jorga Miller in my book
