Bio

Ange Capuozzo is one of the most exciting rugby players in the world thanks to his speed, flair and ability to change a game. A regular at fullback or wing for Italy and Toulouse, he has the world at his feet.

Capuozzo was born 30 April 1999 in Le Pont-de-Claix, France. His paternal grandparents were from Naples, meaning he could choose to play for either France or Italy.

He began playing rugby in his hometown, and in 2010 he became part of Grenoble’s youth system. In 2019, he made his first appearance for the club’s first team. During the 2019-20 Pro D2 season, he secured his first try. Then, in the following Pro D2 season, he finished as the league’s top try scorer, crossing the line 10 times in 21 games.

In May 2022, Capuozzo signed a three-year contract with Top 14 club Toulouse. He made his debut for the club in September of that year and scored his first try for the team in a home win against Racing 92.

Despite being eligible to play for France, Ange Capuozzo opted to represent Italy and in 2019 he was invited to join Italy U20 for the 2019 World Rugby Under 20 Championship. He concluded the competition with two tries across five games.

In January 2022, his excellence on the field earned him a place in the Italy national team ahead of the 2022 Six Nations Championship. A week after his debut, he contributed to the winning try in a match against Wales after breaking a tackle in the closing stages, and making a pass to Edoardo Padovani, who scored the winning try.

He was called up to the 2022 Autumn Internationals, where he was subsequently named 2022 World Rugby Men’s 15s Breakthrough Player of the Year at the World Rugby Awards. In 2023, he joined Italy’s Six Nations team and then Italy’s 33-man squad for the Rugby World Cup.

Capuozzo’s impressive career has only just begun and we’re looking forward to watching his future successes.
