Anne-Cécile Ciofani is a star of the rugby sevens circuit. She has represented France for almost a decade and was awarded the World Rugby Women’s Sevens Player of the Year award in 2021.
Born 14 December 1993, Anne-Cécile Ciofani discovered rugby at the age of 18, when she was training for the heptathlon (both of her parents were Olympians).
Her talent for the sport immediately shone through, and she was signed as a professional rugby player with the French Rugby Union in September 2017. Only a year later, she helped France claim second place at the Rugby World Cup Sevens. She had a fantastic tournament individually, and was awarded the Tudor Breakthrough Player of the Tournament award.
Since, she has been a constant presence for the team, and she claimed the silver medal with the squad at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. She also scored a try in the final of the competition, where France were defeated by New Zealand.
Still widely regarded as one of the finest players in the sport, we can’t wait to see what else Anne-Cécile Ciofani can achieve.
