Beauden Barrett

Beauden Barrett is a fly half and fullback who plays for the New Zealand national rugby union team. One of the finest players of his generation, he was named as the World Rugby Player of the Year in both 2016 and 2017.

Barrett was born into a rugby-playing family in New Plymouth on 27 May 1991. He’s the son of former All Black, Kevin Barrett. Plus, his brothers, Jordie, Scott and Kane all played professional rugby (Jordie and Scott also represented the All Blacks). 

Unsurprisingly, Beauden Barrett took to rugby at a young age. He made his debut for Taranaki in 2010 and first represented the Hurricanes in Super Rugby only a year later. Throughout his illustrious career, he’s also played for the Blues, Suntory Sungoliath and Toyota Verblitz. He won the Super Rugby title with the Hurricanes in 2016 and will return to the Blues in 2025. 

A true star on the domestic stage, Beauden Barrett has reserved his best performances for the All Blacks. He made his debut for the side in 2012 after previously representing his country in rugby sevens and at the U20 level. Since, he’s made more than 130 appearances for the side, and captured the Rugby World Cup in 2015. 

Barrett is undoubtedly one of the finest players to ever lace a pair of rugby boots. He won the World Rugby Player of the Year award in 2016 and 2017, becoming only the second player in history to win the award in back-to-back years. Known for his devastating speed, pinpoint kicking and smart game management, he’s a true star of the game.
