Bio
Brendon Leonard is a young Waikato halfback who made his New Zealand debut in the match against France in 2007 in Auckland, after just one season of Rebel Sport Super 14 rugby. Although not selected for national age grade teams, he was selected for the New Zealand Schools side in 2002, although he did not make it onto the field. Leonard performed well in the 2006 Air New Zealand Cup when he took the starting scrum half jersey whilst Byron Kelleher was on All Blacks duty. He has equalled the Chiefs record for number of tries in a match when he scored three against Western Force in the 2007 Rebel Sport Super 14, coming on as a replacement. His father, Ron Leonard, also played rugby and appeared in 20 games for Waikato between 1973 and 1980.
