Brodie Retallick Bio

Brodie Retallick is one of the finest locks to ever play the game. With more than 80 caps for New Zealand and more than 100 appearances for the Chiefs to his name, he's widely regarded as a legend of rugby.

Brodie Retallick began his professional career in 2010, when he made his debut for Hawkes Bay in the ITM Cup (now the Bunnings NPC). In his first two seasons with the club, he was hugely impressive and he was soon signed to play for the Chiefs in Super Rugby. Since 2012, he's stayed with the Chiefs and has been an almost constant presence for the side, notching up more than 100 appearances and claiming two Super Rugby titles in the process.

That said, in 2019 it was announced that Brodie Retallick was taking an 18-month sabbatical from the side and from his commitments with New Zealand. During this time, he went to Japan and played rugby for the Kobelco Steelers.

Although he's been a giant for the Chiefs and Hawkes Bay, Brodie Retallick has saved his most impressive performances for the All Blacks. Ever since he made his debut for the side in 2012, he's been a regular starter. During this time, he's won the Rugby World Cup in 2015 and was named as the World Rugby Player of the Year in 2014. Due to his performances for the All Blacks, he's also been compared to legendary New Zealand lock Sir Colin Meads.

With many years of elite rugby still ahead of him and his sabbatical over, we can't wait to see what else Brodie Retallick can achieve for the Chiefs and the All Blacks.
