Courtney Lawes

Courtney Lawes is a giant of English rugby. An ever present for Northampton Saints and England throughout his career, he's a versatile and exciting player who is loved by fans and pundits alike.

Born on 23 February 1989, Courtney Lawes has been a standout star since his playing days began. He represented England at the under 18 level and made his first team debut for the Northampton Saints in the 2007-08 season.

Courtney Lawes quickly gained a reputation for himself as a hard tackler who played rugby at a high intensity. In fact, this style of play was to prove crucial for his club career. In 2014, he was instrumental in helping the Northampton Saints win both the Premiership and the European Rugby Challenge Cup. A highly loyal player, Courtney Lawes has remained with the Northampton Saints throughout his entire domestic career. As a result, he's played more than 200 games for the club.

Due to his achievements with the Saints, Courtney Lawes has been capped more than 80 times for England. He's won the Six Nations Championship with the national side on several occasions and he was a vital player for England at the 2019 Rugby World Cup; particularly in their famous victory over New Zealand in the semi-final.

On top of this, because of his outstanding play for Northampton and England, he was selected for the British and Irish Lions tour of New Zealand in 2017. During the tour, he played in two tests as the Lions earned a historic draw. In 2021, it was also announced that Courtney Lawes had been included in the British and Irish Lions squad for their tour of South Africa.
