Bio

Craig Gilroy is an Irish winger and fullback who represents Ulster. Until 2017, he also represented Ireland. During his time with the national side, he notably scored a hat-trick of tries against Italy in the Six Nations Championship.

Born 11 March 1991, Craig Gilroy started his professional career with Ulster in 2010. During his debut season, he scored an impressive eight tries. Since, he's gained a reputation as a try-scoring supremo and has become a mainstay of the Ulster team. Since his debut, he's made almost 200 appearances for the Irish province and he's finished as a runner up in the PRO12 and the PRO14 (now the United Rugby Championship), and the European Rugby Champions Cup.

Due to his try-scoring exploits, Craig Gilroy entered the Ireland setup in 2011, when he first represented Ireland U20s. From here, he progressed to represent Emerging Ireland (2014) and Ireland Wolfhounds (2014-15).

In addition to this, Craig Gilroy was quickly incorporated into Ireland's senior side. In 2012, he was selected to train with Ireland's squad for the Six Nations campaign. Later in the same year, he made his debut for the first XV in a non-cap friendly with the Barbarians. Then, in 2013, he appeared in his first Six Nations Championship clash, when he was included in the Ireland side that faced Wales in Cardiff.

However, although he enjoyed a great amount of success on the international stage at a young age, Craig Gilroy has not represented Ireland since 2017. On his last appearance for his country, he scored a hat-trick of tries against Italy in the Six Nations Championship.

Still young and with plenty left to prove in the game, we can't wait to see if Craig Gilroy's performances at domestic level can see him gain a recall into the Ireland side.
