Bio
Dan Biggar is a distinguished fly-half who plays at both club level and on the international stage for Wales and the British and Irish Lions. A popular player, he also won the BBC Cymru Sports Personality of the Year Award back in 2015.
Born in Morriston, Swansea in 1989, Dan Biggar rose through the ranks with both Swansea R.F.C. and Welsh provincial side Ospreys - where, aged just 22, he was the side's youngest player to reach 100 appearances.
He stayed with the Ospreys until 2018, before signing for Northampton Saints. With the Ospreys, he saw several honours and notable achievements as a player, with highlights including sealing the match-winning conversion in the 2012 PRO12 Grand Final, as well as several Celtic League titles and still being the club's current top scorer. His success has also continued with Northampton with him recently helping the side lift the Premiership Rugby Cup in 2019.
Dan Biggar made his international debut at the age of 19, having previously played at U18 level for Wales. Despite missing out on the Welsh squad for the 2011 World Cup, he finally got to establish himself in the number 10 shirt and was a key part of Wales' victory in the 2021 and 2013 Six Nations Championships.
He played in the 2015 World Cup, taking over kicking duties from injured Leigh Halfpenny, Biggar then kicked an impressive 56 points across the tournament and was instrumental in getting the side through to the quarter-finals. Two years later in 2017, he also toured New Zealand with the British and Irish Lions. However, he didn't feature in a test on the tour.
Dan Biggar's most-recent achievements for Wales have come as a part of the team which claimed a Grand Slam Six Nations win in 2019 and Wales' 28th title in the 2021 competition. To date, he also features in the top 10 Welsh players to score 300 points for the national team and if his impressive performances continue, he's likely to break into the top five. As a reward for his contributions for Wales in recent years, he was named in the British and Irish Lions squad for their 2021 tour of South Africa.
