Emily Scarratt Bio

Emily Scarratt is a talented centre who has represented Loughborough Lightning since 2018 and the England women’s national rugby team since 2008.

Scarratt was born in Leicester on 8 February 1990. She was an active child and was offered a basketball scholarship in the United States, but ultimately decided to turn the offer down.

Her rugby career began at Leicester Forest, before she made a move to Lichfield Ladies in 2007. The following year she made her debut for England, scoring 12 tries across 12 matches.

During the 2014 Rugby World Cup, Scarratt once again proved her worth and was instrumental in England’s victorious campaign. She scored 16 points against Canada in the final and was top scorer in the tournament, finishing with an impressive 70 points.

Two years later, Scarratt captained the team GB sevens team and led them to a fourth place finish at the 2016 Summer Olympics.

2018 was another successful year for Scarratt, who signed for Loughborough Lightning and won bronze at the Commonwealth Games.

An exceptional player, Scarratt was named as the 2019 Rugby Union World Player of the Year. The following year, she became England's highest ever point scorer. She has scored more than 700 points for the squad and was also the Six Nations’ top point scorer in 2020, 2021 and 2022.

With accomplishments worthy of an MBE for services to rugby union, we’re excited to see what achievements are ahead for Scarratt.
