Bio

Finn Russell is one of Scotland's finest ever rugby union players. A legendary fly half who can also operate at centre, he's been capped close to 100 times by his country.

Born into a sporting family on 23 September 1992, Finn Russell started playing rugby at a young age in Stirling. However, he quickly moved to Falkirk to improve his chances of playing regularly.

In 2012, Finn Russell played for Scotland at the World Rugby U20 Championships. During this time, he was also selected to play for Ayr and helped them win the league and cup double in the 2012-13 season. At this point, he joined Glasgow Warriors and began to play professional rugby in the PRO12.

During his time at Glasgow Warriors, Finn Russell was instrumental to the team’s successes. He arguably played some of his finest rugby in the 2014-15 season, when he almost single-handedly dragged Glasgow Warriors to their first ever PRO12 championship.

However, in 2018, he moved to Racing 92 to play in France's Top 14 competition. He made more than 100 appearances for the French outfit before moving back to the UK. Since 2023, he’s played for Bath in the Premiership.

Although Finn Russell has been a standout performer in club rugby, some of his finest performances have been on the international stage. Ever since 2014, he's been a near-constant fixture for Scotland. He's been capped nearly 100 times by his country and he's featured in three Rugby World Cups.

On top of this, Finn Russell has twice been named in British and Irish Lions squads (2017 and 2021). During the tour of South Africa in 2021, he made his first test appearance for the Lions. He came off the bench in the deciding test and kicked 11 points in 11 minutes.

With many years of top-class rugby still ahead of him, we can't wait to see what Finn Russell does next.
