Bio
Gareth Davies is a talented Welsh scrum-half and prolific try scorer. A popular and established player, he has been a regular name on the team sheets for both club and country.
Born in Carmarthen, Wales in August 1990, Gareth Davies played rugby from a young age and in his youth joined the Scarlets Academy in 2006. However, he also played at amateur level for Bridgend Sports RFC and Newcastle Emlyn RFC, gaining experience playing with feeder clubs Llanelli RFC and Carmarthen Quins in the Welsh Premier Division.
Gareth Davies then moved into the senior Scarlets squad and quickly made a big impression. In what was the 2013-14 PRO12 season, he was the top try scorer and helped the side to the title in the 2016-17 season. To date, he remains a Scarlets player and has now made over 200 appearances, scoring over 100 points.
He first caught the attention of the Wales national side in his top try scoring season and he made his debut in the same year in Wales' summer tour of South Africa in 2014.
Davies was then a part of the squad for the 2015 World Cup, scoring tries in all three pool games and playing all five games in Wales' Grand Slam Six Nations win in 2019.
In May 2021, his continued fine form saw him be rewarded with a call up by coach Warren Gatland to the squad for the 2021 British & Irish Lions summer tour to South Africa.
In October 2024, after earning 77 caps for his country and cementing his legacy as one of Wales' finest scrum-halves, Davies announced his retirement from international rugby at the age of 34-years-old.
