Bio

Jamie Ritchie is a supremely talented flanker who currently represents both Scotland and Edinburgh.

Born 16 August 1996, Jamie Ritchie began playing rugby in Dundee. While still a teenager, he made his professional debut for Edinburgh in 2014. Ever since, he's been a standout player for Edinburgh in the United Rugby Championship (previously the PRO14 and the PRO12). He's also put in a number of impressive performances for the side in European competitions.

Due to his spectacular performances for the side, Jamie Ritchie signed the longest deal in Edinburgh's history in 2021. When announcing the deal, Edinburgh head coach Richard Cockerill said he believed that Jamie Ritchie would one day be named as the Scotland captain, with his work rate and the quality of his work both setting him apart from the crowd.

Jamie Ritchie's pedigree as a potential Scotland captain can also be seen through his international career so far. He's represented Scotland at U16, U18 and U20 level and he captained Scotland at the European Under 18 Rugby Union Championship in 2014.

In 2017, Jamie Ritchie then received his first ever call up into the senior Scotland squad. However, he had to wait until June 2018 before he received his first cap. He was then selected in Scotland's squad for the 2019 edition of the Rugby World Cup, but was injured in the side's final warm-up match. In total, he's already amassed more than 25 caps for Scotland and has won several Player of the Match awards in Six Nations Championship clashes.

Still young and with his best years ahead of him, we can't wait to see what else Jamie Ritchie can achieve in the game.
