Jamison Gibson-Park Bio

Jamison Gibson-Park was born on Great Barrier Island, New Zealand on 23 February 1992. He spent the first 10 years of his life here, before moving to Gisborne.

While at Gisborne Boys’ High School, he excelled in the first XV and was ultimately named in the New Zealand Secondary Schools squad in his final year.

At the end of his schooling, Jamison Gibson-Park was picked up by the Taranaki Academy. He then made his debut for Taranaki in 2012. After impressing for the side in the 2012 ITM Cup (now the National Provincial Championship), he was awarded the ‘most promising player of the year’ award and was signed by the Blues in Super Rugby

At the end of the 2015 season, Jamison Gibson-Park left the Blues and signed for the Hurricanes. However, after just one year with the side, he decided to leave New Zealand and sign for Leinster

He’s played for Leinster ever since and has now made more than 150 appearances for the Irish province. In this time, he’s won multiple Pro14 titles and a European Rugby Champions Cup

Despite playing for the Māori All Blacks between 2012 and 2015, Jamison Gibson-Park ultimately decided to play international rugby for Ireland. He qualified to play for his adopted country in 2019, due to World Rugby’s eligibility rules.

He’s been a near-permanent fixture for Ireland ever since he made his debut in 2020 and he was named in the 2024 World Rugby Dream Team of the Year. During his time with Ireland, he’s also won two Six Nations Championships, including a Grand Slam win in 2023.

Due to his form for Leinster and Ireland, Jamison Gibson-Park was named in Andy Farrell’s squad for the British and Irish Lions tour of Australia in 2025.

With many years of elite rugby still ahead of him, we can’t wait to see what the future holds for Jamison Gibson-Park.
