Bio

Jonathan Danty

Jonathan Danty is a powerful presence in rugby who has contributed impressive performances as a centre throughout his career. He played as an outside centre for Stade Français almost 200 times before moving to Top 14 club La Rochelle in 2021. He has represented France as an inside centre since 2016.

Born in Paris on 7 October 1992, Danty started rugby at a young age, playing for ASPTT Paris Île-de-France and Paris Université Club. His professional career commenced in 2011, when he joined Stade Français. He stayed with the club until 2021, claiming both a Top 14 title and a European Rugby Challenge Cup.

At 1.8m (5’11”) and 110kg (17st 5lb) his sturdy frame quickly gained him recognition in the sport and in 2016 he was chosen to join France's 28-man squad for the tour of Argentina. He made four international appearances for France in 2016 but didn’t return again until 2020.

His first match upon his return was in November 2020 against Italy in the Autumn Nations Cup, where he scored his first test try. He appeared again in 2021 for France’s Australian tour and showcased his impressive handling skills by assisting two tries.

Moving to La Rochelle in 2021, Danty made his debut for the club during the Top 14 in a match against Biarritz. He’s since won two European Rugby Champions Cups with the squad.

With plenty left to offer on the domestic and international stage, we’re excited to see what’s next for the rugby union player.
