Bio

Marcus Smith is a young and exciting fly half and fullback who represents Harlequins and the England national team.

Born in Manila in the Philippines on 14 February 1999, Marcus Smith qualified to play for England on ancestry grounds. He started playing rugby in Singapore at the age of seven, before moving to the UK aged 13. Here he received a sports scholarship to attend Brighton College, where he ultimately captained the school’s first XV.

After a period in the club’s Elite Player Development Group and Academy, Marcus Smith made his professional debut for Harlequins in 2017. Since, he’s made more than 150 appearances for the first team. He won the Premiership title with the club in 2020-21 and the Premiership Rugby Cup in 2019-20.

After appearing for his country at U18 and U20 level, Marcus Smith made his debut for England in 2021. He’s since become a regular starter and he helped lead England to a third place at the 2023 Rugby World Cup.

Additionally, Marcus Smith was also called up to the 2021 British and Irish Lions squad. During the tour, he featured against the Stormers. In the game, he successfully converted all seven Lions tries.

Still young and with his best years ahead of him, we can’t wait to see what else Marcus Smith can achieve in the game.
