Marlie Packer

Marlie Packer is a first-rate flanker who represents Saracens Women and England. She currently captains the England rugby team, where she has become one of the squad’s most-capped rugby players of all time. In addition to her successful 15s career, Packer has also represented the England Sevens rugby team.

Born in Yeovil, Somerset on 2 October 1989, Marlie Packer started playing rugby when she was five. She trained at Ivel Barbarians in Yeovil and stayed with the side until she was 18 years old. After finishing school, she attended Yeovil College, where she became a qualified plumber.

Packer's club career began in 2007. She played for Bath until 2009, when she transferred to Bristol. After signing with Wasps in 2013, Packer moved to Saracens in 2017. She's remained with the team ever since.

On the international stage, Packer debuted for England in 2008. She quickly developed a reputation as a fierce competitor and she went on to start in the 2014, 2017 and 2021 Rugby World Cup finals. She also represented England during the 2013 Rugby World Cup Sevens.

Packer is particularly well known for her Six Nations accomplishments. She has won seven Six Nations titles (2017, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024) and six Grand Slams (2017, 2019, 2020, 2022, 2023 and 2024). Her shining achievement occurred in 2023, when she was the tournament’s top point and try scorer.

In 2019, Packer signed her full time contract with England. Following an ankle injury, she returned for the 2021 Rugby World Cup and scored a hat-trick during England's quarter-final against Australia. 

Packer rose to new heights in 2023. Not only was she named as England captain, she also won the World Rugby Player of the Year award. The following year, she earned her 100th international cap at the 2024 Six Nations.
