May Campbell Bio

A highly decorated and technically-skilled hooker, May Campbell currently represents the England national rugby union team and Saracens Women. She earned her first cap for England at the 2023 Six Nations.

May Campbell was born in Scotland on 16 May 1996. She spent her early childhood near Dunblane in Stirling and started playing rugby at the local rugby club, Stirling County RFC. Her secondary education was completed at Keswick School in Cumbria and she studied for her A-Levels at Hartpury College.

After completing her A-Levels, Campbell moved to London. First, she gained a degree in sports science and business studies at Brunel University. Next, she kicked off her club career by signing with Saracens Women in 2015.

Since then, Campbell has become a Sarries legend. She was the Saracens’ Young Player of the Season for 2015-16, the Players’ Player of the Season and the club’s top try scorer for 2020-21, and she was named in the Team of the Season for 2023-24.

Thanks to her long list of accolades, it’s unsurprising that the Sarries have described Campbell as ‘one of the best hookers in the league.’ As a result, she has become an integral part of the team and a regular feature in the Premiership, where she’s a frequent try-scorer.

A consistent, dynamic and relentless player, Campbell never fails to deliver for her team. Her skill was rewarded in 2023, when she became one of only six Saracens to make 100 appearances for the club.

Internationally, Campbell first represented England via the U20s team. Her senior team debut came at the 2023 Six Nations, when she came on as a replacement against Wales. Later that year, Campbell was selected for the Barbarians. She was named in the squad for their fixtures against Munster and South Africa.

From her title-winning Premiership performances to her budding international career, we can’t wait to watch May Campbell’s next match.
