Bio
Peato Mauvaka is a prominent French hooker. Since 2016, he’s represented Toulouse. In 2019, he made his debut for the French national team.
Born 10 January 1997 in Nouméa, New Caledonia, Mauvaka started playing the game at a young age. He was a natural, and his performances earned him a spot in the French U20 team for the 2017 Six Nations Under 20 tournament.
Following this, he secured a spot in Toulouse’s senior squad. He’s remained with the team ever since, winning multiple European Rugby Champions Cups and Top 14 titles.
In 2019, he was called up to the French squad for the Rugby World Cup in Japan. He made his first appearance in a test debut off the bench against Scotland ahead of the Rugby World Cup.
In the 2020 Six Nations, he was called up to the squad to replace Anthony Étrillard. He then returned to the Six Nations Championship in 2022 and, in the same year, he signed a new long-term contract with Toulouse. The year after, he featured in France’s Rugby World Cup squad for the 2023 tournament.
Mauvaka has established himself as an outstanding hooker in rugby union and with plenty of his career ahead of him, we can’t wait to see more from the French player.
