Bio
As a giant of Irish rugby, Rob Kearney has won almost every trophy the game has to offer, including the Heineken Champions Cup, the PRO14 and the Six Nations Championship. With almost 100 caps for his country, he'll go down as a legend of the game. Rob Kearney was inducted into the RugbyPass Hall of Fame in 2021.
Born 26 March 1986, Rob Kearney was raised on a dairy farm and began playing Gaelic football at a young age. However, by the time he had reached university age, he was regularly playing rugby for Leinster schoolboys.
After playing for Leinster at schoolboy and U19 level, Rob Kearney went on to play for Leinster's senior team. Following this, he enjoyed a glittering career with the Irish side that saw him make more than 200 appearances for the club. During this time, he won the Heineken Champions Cup on four occasions and won the PRO14 (now known as the United Rugby Championship and formerly as the Celtic League and PRO12) six times. He also won the European Rugby Challenge Cup once, in 2013.
At the end of the 2020 season though, it was announced that Rob Kearney was leaving Leinster and joining Western Force in Australia's Super Rugby competitions.
On the international stage, Rob Kearney has represented Ireland from a young age. After representing the team at schoolboy, U19 and A level, he made his debut for the first team in 2007. In the years following, he made 95 appearances for Ireland and helped the team capture four Six Nations Championships, including two Grand Slams.
As an ever present for Ireland, Rob Kearney was also named in two British and Irish Lions squads. He played in all three Tests in 2009 as the Lions were defeated by South Africa and played a valuable role as a squad member in 2013 when the team beat Australia.
Although his career is now winding down, we can't wait to see what else Rob Kearney can achieve in the game.
